The Centre

Dhamma Parimala, means ‘Aroma of Dhamma’. The centre began functioning in 2012 at the International Meditation Society of Wayanad – India (IMSWI), as a gypsy camp of Dhamma Ketana, Chengannur. In 2020, the International Meditation Society of Wayanad – India took a decision to donate 3 acres of land to develop a Vipassana Meditation Centre in the tradition of Acharya Shri. Sathyanarayan Goenka.

In 2021, it has been elevated to the status of the Centre in the name Dhamma Parimala – Vipassana International Meditation Centre, Wayanad. Carrying out the previous decision, in April 2022, the International Meditation Society of Wayanad – India donated 3 acres of land to develop own campus for Dhamma Parimala.

As an ad hoc facility, Dhamma Parimala is permitted to utilize the entire premises of the International Meditation Society of Wayanad – India till the new campus comes into existence.

Dhamma Parimala is a new centre, and so also, a small centre. The Dhamma hall can accommodate 20 students; but residential accommodation can be provided only to 12 students in dormitory style. For one-day courses and children’s courses, we accommodate 20 students; but for residential courses, the intake is restricted to 12 only on a single gender basis.

We conduct 10-day courses, short courses, dhamma servers’ workshop and children’s courses.

Wayanad is also blessed with a fairly pleasant weather even during summer. March to May is the summer season; June to September is monsoon season; and October to February is winter season.
